The kallah is a sister of a good friend of mine. She is 29. I happened to bump into a chavrusa of my old chavrusa, the chosson. He is 37. When talking to my friend, the idea popped into my head.

I only started suggesting shidduchim after 10K Batay Yisroel inspired me.
Just because you haven’t redt a shidduch before doesn’t mean you can’t. Every shadchan started somewhere.

I’ve made many shidduch suggestions, but this was my first successful one, and the couple’s chasuna was just last week.

I learned two valuable lessons from this experience:

  1. Don’t underestimate your ideas or hesitate to share them. The worst that can happen is you get a “no.” Making a good-faith suggestion is a way to show someone you are still thinking of them. Every shadchan starts somewhere, and this was my start.
  2. You never know the ripple effect of your efforts. Even if a suggestion doesn’t lead to a “yes” or engagement, unexpected outcomes can arise. Beyond my gratitude for being part of this marriage, this suggestion brought an additional blessing: once the chosson and kallah had been dating for a while, they decided to set up two friends, who just got engaged as well. You can never know the fruits your thoughts and efforts can bear
